Greek Island Picture: Picture Perfect!

Greece has got to be one of the most exotic locations to be in the whole known world. Located at the southern Balkan Peninsula, the Hellenic Republic has a little over 2000 islands in its territory. This country has a legacy rich with tradition and heritage. Most of the islands in the country do not have people living in them. A little over 227 islands are inhabited by people and the rest is virgin paradise.

When you see a picture of Greece, there are two possible scenes in front of you. The first one would be endless blue green waters, fine sand, birds flying in the sky, strong sun and sailboats in the distance. This represents the beaches and islands that define Greece today. Greece has one of the longest coastlines in the world. It is natural that these coastlines translate to wonderful beaches and shores. You have the choice to go with highly populated beaches or to enjoy a secluded beach on your own in one of the little islands. You can also choose between going to a regular beach or to a nudist / naturalist beach where everyone is walking around and lying around without any clothes on.

The second scene that you might be seeing is a seaside town with a port, white box like structures, sailboats docked and people milling around. This same scene was presented in the movie Bourne Identity. This represents the traditional villages that are in Greece. It has become a developed country that has managed to retain its old world charm while moving progressively into the future. These villages are home to the Greeks who are tightly knit families and carefree and fun loving people. They love good food, have a soft spot for celebrations, are highly inquisitive and smart and have big hearts.

So the next time you are presented with a picture of the Greek Islands, think. What does it say about the place?
